23-year-old Age Assamese Boxer Lovlina Borgohain is all set to represent India at the Tokyo2020 Olympics!Hailing from the Golaghat district of Assam, Lovlina Borgohain represents India in the 69-kgs welterweight category.
Lovlina comes from a middle-class family. Her father is an owner of a small local business, her mother is a house maker.
She shot to fame in 2017 after she won a bronze medal at the AsianBoxingChampionships in the Women’s Welterweight category and with another blockbuster performance at the President’s Cup held at Astana, Kazakhstan.
She is now going to be the first female athlete from Assam to represent India in the Summer Games.
She will head to Tokyo as a two-time bronze medallist in World Championship.

She qualified for the Tokyo2020 Olympics in March 2020 by winning the Asia and Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament by defeating Uzbekistan’s Maftunakhon Melieva in the 69kg Welterweight category.
Borgohain was also the first Indian boxer to confirm her qualification berth in the Olympics.
While it's sometimes very easy to get distracted, Lovlina knows what's at stake. It's after all that she has been training for all these years and it's a special Olympics and she is geared up to make it special for her and the country.

Earlier, the team was not granted a visa, which an official said, "We applied online for a visa to the French High Commission. Our visa has not yet been accepted. Visas of archers not only from India but also in Bangladesh and Nepal were not accepted.
The Archery Association of India had sought help from the World Archery Association and the Sports Authority of India in which the Ministry of External Affairs also jumped in the middle. He also pleaded for a visa for Indian archers. France has resumed the process after such talks

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu (Mirabai Chanu wins Silver) has opened India's medal account at the Tokyo Olympics. Mirabai won the silver medal for India in the 49 kg category.

Mirabai Chanu ends India's 21-year wait for a medal in the Olympic Games weightlifting event. Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg from 115 kg in clean and jerk and 87 kg in the snatch to clinch the silver medal. Earlier, Karnam Malleswari had won a bronze medal in weightlifting for the country at the Sydney Olympics 2000. China's Ho Zhoui won the gold medal with a total of 210 kg (94 kg in snatch, 116 kg in clean and jerk). Indonesia's Aisah Windy Kantika lifted a total weight of 194 kg to clinch the bronze medal.
